Charles (Chas) Rothera is a clinical social worker, a therapist, and an advocate for individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. He attended Millersville University and graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in social work. He is a strong believer in using a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to providing strengths-based and goal-oriented care.
He entered the field almost 20 years ago as an activities aide in a drop-in center that provided social and basic needs support to adults with mental health disorders. As his career developed, he began working with individuals on the autism spectrum as well as adolescents in the juvenile justice system. Ultimately, he ended up finding his niche working with the cooccurring population as a therapist. For the last 15 years, he has worked primarily in residential settings including detox, inpatient psychiatric care, and inpatient substance use disorder treatment.
While working as a clinical supervisor, Chas discovered his love for supervising other professionals and providing consultation services to community organizations with the goal of increasing the quality of care they provide to the behavioral health community. Currently, Chas is the Clinical Director of MPower Wellness, a cooccurring behavioral health outpatient program in Exton, PA. He is on the advisory board for the Chester County branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and for Chester Counties department of Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both Pennsylvania and Delaware and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). He lives in West Chester with his wife, Jacquelyn, a school administrator, their dog Rocko and their cats Johnny Cats and June Carter Cats.
